We have already tested the new Mazda CX-30 before, but then this crossover was equipped with a 122-horsepower engine and, to put it mildly, disappointed us with its dynamic characteristics. The test CX30 has already 150 HP under the hood, and we hope that the dynamic performance of this version will be significantly better. We also decided to compare the CX-30 with the” older ” model CX-5 and the VERY popular Kia Sportage crossover in our market. Which car is the best choice if you are willing to spend about 30 thousand dollars?

Mazda CX-30 front view
Mazda CX-30 is not just another new model from a Japanese manufacturer. The fact is that this car is built on a completely new platform of the seventh generation Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture, which the crossover also shared with the Mazda3. Here you can feel a new approach to design, an improved interior, and, of course, updated electronics. All this will soon get other models of the company, such as the new ” six ” and CX-5. But if the “Troika” due to the high price and relatively weak dynamics in Ukraine was met with little enthusiasm, then we have a different story with the CX-30 model. First, for comparable money you get a crossover, and secondly, it should be more dynamic, because we supply a version with a 2.0-liter atmospheric engine with 150 HP.
The simplest versions of Touring are not imported to Ukraine, and we also do not offer cars with a manual transmission. But in Russia, by the way, crossovers will be sold both with “mechanics” and in the basic configuration. As a result, the CX-30 is delivered to us with only one engine and one type of automatic transmission. The drive can be either front or full.

Mazda CX-30 side view
However, customers can choose from three options: Style, Executive, and Premium. As a result, the price of the Mazda CX-30 starts from 27 thousand dollars, and our “top” crossover with all-wheel drive in the maximum configuration will cost the buyer 33,700 dollars. But do not be surprised by this indicator, because the CX-30 is able to surprise.
However, looking at the price of this crossover, it becomes clear that the Mazda CX-30 will compete with larger crossovers, including the KIA Sportage and Mazda CX-5, while offering more modern options.
Appearance
Already in the basic configuration (in Ukraine this is Style), the CX-30 is equipped with 18-inch wheels; in the” top ” version, the size of the wheels is the same. This also applies to the plastic body kit, which is a very practical solution. On the other hand, the body kit visually increases the wheel arches, which will not appeal to everyone.

Mazda CX-30 wheels
In all configurations, the optics are led, while in the maximum configuration, the front lights are matrix, which is a serious advantage for this class. Each headlight is equipped with 20 diodes, so that the optics can better illuminate the road and “cut out” oncoming cars. Of course, the diodes themselves are less than in the headlights of Mercedes-Benz S-Class, for example, but they also do an excellent job with their tasks. The mid-range Executive offers Keyless access. Interestingly, the key card buttons are located on the side of the card, so you can accidentally press them when the key ring is in your pocket.

Mazda CX-30 headlights
A feature of the crossover, which is easy to “find fault with”, I would call the low-placed front turn signals. I am sure that in winter they will hide under a layer of mud and snow, so only repeaters in mirrors will save them. On the other hand, the work of the turn indicators themselves looks beautiful (not the least role is played by the “luxury” dimmer).
Dimensions in comparison with competitors
In order to better imagine the dimensions of the Mazda CX-30, I will say that in terms of dimensions (length-4395 mm, wheelbase-2655 mm), the crossover is comparable to the Nissan Qashqai (4394 mm) and Skoda Karoq (4382 mm). And, accordingly, slightly smaller than the KIA Sportage (4480 mm): about 10 cm shorter, lower and slightly narrower than the Korean crossover. But the wheelbase is almost the same (KIA – 2670 mm).
Despite the fact that the cars belong to different classes, they will still be compared. First, because with a” top-end ” engine and in the maximum configuration, the Japanese Mazda crossover is even slightly cheaper than the Korean KIA. And secondly, because of the popularity of the Sportage, almost all crossovers are compared with it. So, if we talk about the ratio of versions, then the best fit is the Sportage with a 2.0-liter diesel engine, automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Even despite the higher engine output (184 HP). and 400 Nm for KIA against 150 HP and 213 Nm for Mazda) and the best dynamic performance (9.5 s for the “Korean” against 10.4 for the “Japanese”), it is quite possible to compare them. After all, the fuel consumption of crossovers is almost the same, acceleration differs insignificantly, and the CX30 gasoline engine is much quieter and creates less vibration. Both cars are equipped with all-wheel drive with a clutch and “automatic” with a torque Converter.
If we talk about the difference in configuration, then the maximum versions of both cars have their advantages. The KIA Sportage in the GT-Line configuration will cost about $ 2,200 more than the Mazda CX-30 Premium. The Korean crossover for this money, unlike Mazda, will have a panoramic roof and seat ventilation. But Mazda has a projection display and all-round cameras. As a result, the equipment can be called parity. So more important for the buyer should be the question concerning the difference in size of cars.
Interior and trunk
The internal design of the CX-30 is almost the same as that of the Mazda3. But since we are talking about a crossover, this is at least a good reason to look at the interior again.

Mazda CX-30 interior
Mazda surprised us first of all as a Japanese brand. Because we expected anything from Japanese designers, but not such thoughtful restraint and rigor of classic lines in a compact crossover. In addition, serious work was done on the architecture, colors, and finishing materials. So once again I repeat the idea we have repeatedly voiced: Mazda is going to the premium segment. Yes, German premium cars Mazda in this regard is not yet a competitor, but in the Japanese “premium” it can already be safely credited: such as the CX-30, the interior could be equipped with a basic Lexus. And even more: some basic Lexus lose comparison with the top versions of Mazda.
Soft materials are used in the right places, and the interior itself looks interesting and expensive. Our car has a two-color interior, the upper part of the front panel is stitched with real plastic stitching. Yes, with the skin on the front panel, this solution can not be compared, but for the class in which Mazda plays, this interior can be considered “top”. It should also be said that the abundance of soft plastic has a positive effect on the acoustics of the cabin. This applies not only to listening to music, but also to the sensations of a normal conversation in the salon.

Mazda CX-30 multimedia
I understand that at this point you might have caught me wanting to out-praise Mazda. Of course, I like the crossover, but there is also something to criticize. For example, I can note not the most successful decision concerning the plastic decorative finishing of the center console (whether under carbon fiber, or under a tree covered with supposedly piano varnish). I am sure that this plastic will not be very durable and will definitely be scratched. In some cases, this panel is even covered with a transparent film for protection (as they cover smartphone screens), but from a visual point of view, this only worsens the situation.
There is another point that I should note. Some finishing materials seemed too expensive to me. The dust on the front panel is retained well, but it is removed poorly, which is not very practical. In addition, attention should not be deprived of the armrest. It is convenient, it has a deep niche where you can easily fit everything you need. There is also a USB input for charging gadgets and a place for an SD card for standard navigation. But at the same time, the armrest wobbles and crunches unpleasantly when opened, and in addition, you still need to get used to opening it. As a result, this solution no longer pulls on the “premium”, but these are small things.

Mazda CX-30 steering wheel
But the design of the buttons on the steering wheel and the development of tactile sensations from pressing in the Mazda CX-30 deserve really high ratings. By the way, the steering wheel itself is very similar to the steering wheel that will be installed on the latest Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W223). The German luxury sedan is just about to be released, and someone might have already thought that Mercedes designers “spied” on Mazda’s steering wheel design. Of course, this is not true, but the similarity is really present.
Everything I said about the design of materials also applies to the menu of the multimedia system: there is also a restrained style. At some point, it may even seem that the screen is monochrome (but no, this is not true). Mazda just decided that too colorful screen and undisguised abundance of colors-it’s not serious. In the same style, the display is made, replacing the analog speedometer on the instrument panel. The “picture” also does not dazzle, does not hurt the eyes and practically does not differ from the two analog scales on the sides.
The design of buttons and rotary knobs, as well as the effort on them, were at a high level before (even with the appearance of the first generation CX-5). Now the situation has only improved. The functional console on the Central tunnel also deserves the most flattering ratings, the implementation of which is actually a synergy of all the best that the engineers of German automakers have come up with. For example, here you can see almost the same rotary knob as in Audi, and a joystick like in BMW or Mercedes. It is very convenient to manage these organs, because the menu of the multimedia system is logical and intuitive.
But the most important thing is that there is not a single touch button. And this is the car of 2020! That is, the situation we predicted a few years ago has come true: now more equipped cars can afford not to use touch buttons, and the latter have become the lot of cheaper versions.
The Central display has a rectangular shape, elongated horizontally. Because of this decision, for example, the Apple CarPlay menu also looks uncharacteristically long. I even like this type of menu, although if the screen was a little higher, more elements could fit here. Interesting features include the ability of the Mazda CX-30 to play video on the Central display. However, this function only works at speeds up to 10 km / h, but in traffic it is very convenient.
Previously, we have already tested the sound of the Mazda 3 audio system, and on a 10-point scale rated it at 7.5. the crossover also has a Bose audio system, which sounds very decent and gets no less than in the” Troika ” mark. On the other hand, even the “top-end” Bose here can’t compare to the basic audio system in Porsche, for example. But you need to understand that by the standards of the class (in combination with soft finishing materials) Mazda CX-30 sounds really good.
Landing at the wheel for a person with a tall stature is not very convenient. The seat is too low, so no matter how hard I try to sit down, part of my hip is still not on the pillow. On the other hand, I need to remind you that my height is 193 cm, so the Mazda engineers probably did not focus on me.

Mazda CX-30 rear row of seats
In the back row, the margin of free space is small, especially when compared with the same KIA Sportage. But if you compare it with your classmates, the results of the CX-30 will not be out of the “norm” (this crossover does not claim to be the leader). For example, the Skoda Karoq offers slightly more space in the rear due to a more vertical fit and a high interior. However, I was able to get into the backseat quite normally, with the front seat set up to accommodate the tall driver.
It is worth noting that the plastic in the rear doors, in contrast to the front, is hard – the manufacturer decided to save money on this. But they did not cut the cost of diode light bulbs in the cabin and on the air deflectors. A comfortable and wide armrest is also available for rear passengers.

Mazda CX-30 armrest
If you change to the KIA Sportage after the Mazda CX-30, then, of course, the Korean crossover feels more spacious. In KIA, the front passenger compartment width (from map to map) is 145 cm, which is 5 cm more than in Mazda. At the back, the width of the interiors differs by only three centimeters (again in favor of the Sportage). But first of all, the difference is noticeable in the height of the cabin and in the higher-crossover-fit. According to subjective feelings, Mazda seems to be a hatchback compared to KIA. However, in the Japanese car also has a stock of over head even for a driver of above-average growth.
But please note that we are comparing completely different class of cars. Many may even find this comparison strange. But we are guided by the fact that the CX30 and Sportage in similar trim levels and with similar engine characteristics are almost the same, so they will really be compared.
As for the interior and materials, both cars offer rich finishes in top-end trim levels: two-tone leather seats with perforations and large Central multimedia displays. However, KIA hard plastic is more common, and the decorative line on the front panel is not very convincingly imitates the real line. As a result, a more “premium” interior can be called Mazda. On the other hand, KIA already in the “base” offers an excellent Central display, which can be the envy of all competitors, especially if you take into account the starting price of a little more than 17 thousand dollars.
The electric trunk drive in Mazda (traditionally for Japanese cars) works slowly. The Luggage compartment of the all-wheel-drive crossover offers 422 liters of useful volume. The backrests can be folded directly from the trunk: to do this, press the button located at the end of the seat. However, the front seat will still need to be pulled up to the steering wheel, otherwise the backs of the second row will simply not add up. Perfectly flat space in the CX-30 crossover does not work. The raised floor of the trunk is frankly thin, but under it there is an impressive layer of noise insulation (in the form of foam). A Bose subwoofer and a minimal set of tools for towing the car are located in the niche.

Mazda CX-30 trunk
The width of the trunk in Mazda is 100 cm, the length is 81 cm, and the height (up to the shelf) is 50 cm. In the Sportage, even at first glance, the trunk seems larger. Its declared volume is 466 liters. Our measurements showed that the length of the compartment is 86 cm, the distance between the wheel arches is 103 cm, and the height (up to the curtain) is 43 cm. It turns out that the KIA trunk is slightly lower, but longer and wider. The raised floor in the Sportage is made of durable material, and under it there is quite a lot of free space for small things. When the seats are folded in the Korean crossover, you get a flat floor, but you can’t fold the rear row out of the trunk, as in Mazda.
Technologies and equipment
Probably, many will be surprised to learn that the Mazda CX-30 crossover turned out to be the safest car in the world according to EuroNCAP: recently this Mazda passed tests and received five stars (even ahead of the Volvo XC90). But it’s not even about the stars, because now dozens of indicators are tightly controlled. The Japanese car received the highest rating for the safety of the front passenger and driver-99 % out of 100 possible. Of course, the high result is due not only to standard ABS and ESP, but also to a whole set of active safety systems. This crossover has an airbag for the driver’s knees, adaptive cruise control, Parking assistant, and a steering system that helps keep the car in the lane. The Mazda CX-30 is also equipped with blind spot monitoring, automatic braking, and tire pressure sensors. Mazda “knows” how to warn about cross traffic when you are moving both forward and backward.
Usually in more expensive cars (the price of which approaches the mark of 100 thousand dollars) I don’t test all these modern security systems. This is because the assistants in cars are almost identical and, as a rule, work perfectly. But when we talk about the price of 30 thousand, it becomes much more interesting. Although experience tells me that, probably, there are absolutely the same systems as in BMW and Mercedes, and they are produced again by some Continental.

Mazda CX-30 all-round view cameras
So, in terms of the so-called “autopilot” mode, the car pleasantly surprised me. Everything works flawlessly (and no worse than in more expensive cars). the CX-30 clearly and predictably behaves in heavy urban traffic, stops when necessary, and continues to move independently on time. In this regard, it is definitely a “test”.
Let me remind you that our CX30 costs $ 33,700, and you need to somehow justify the high price of this car. So now I will tell you about the configuration of the crossover, because it is an important argument in favor of Mazda. So, there is a heated steering wheel, Keyless start of the engine, dual-zone climate control, electric adjustments (with position memory) of the driver’s seat, leather trim. Also, our Mazda CX-30 is equipped with fully diode optics, adaptive cruise control, projection display, light and rain sensors. Unfortunately, wireless charging for a smartphone does not offer a complete set.
If we talk about all-round cameras, the quality of the “picture” – thanks to the new platform-has significantly improved. Of course, the result is still not up to the Mercedes indicators in terms of light sensitivity in the dark, and the gluing of the circular view leaves much to be desired. Nevertheless, in terms of image quality, Mazda shows a huge step forward (when compared with what was before). And in General, the cameras work better here than most competitors. For example, the KIA Sportage does not offer all-round cameras at all.
Engine, dynamics and flow rate
You can talk about Mazda’s engine-building technologies for a long time. About ten years ago, Japanese engineers decided to abandon the installation of turbines, choosing a different path. Thanks to a significant increase in the compression ratio of their atmospheric engines, they got something between turbocharged and naturally aspirated engines. The result was good – as for an atmospheric unit-fuel consumption indicators. But to drive actively, the engine must be brought to high speeds. And another problem is that with the introduction of the WLTP emission certification system, Mazda had to sacrifice the power of its engines and the dynamics of its cars (to meet the standards).
In General, the 2.0-liter engine, which is installed on the Mazda CX-30, is considered super-technological. It is found on different Mazda models in three degrees of boost: 122 and 150 HP (SkyActiv-G version), as well as 180 ” horses “(SkyActiv-X) Our CX-30 crossover received a 150-horsepower engine. (only with such a boost deliver this car to us). It uses the technology of “soft” hybrid (mild hybrid), as in Mercedes-Benz or Audi, which allows you to use the energy obtained through recovery. In addition, two of the four cylinders in the SkyActiv-G engine can be disabled in the corresponding driving modes.

Mazda CX-30 engine
The result of all these technologies is quite adequate dynamics within 10 seconds of acceleration to 100 km/h. Is the passport data for a car with a monodrive. All-wheel drive Mazda CX-30 is slower by 0.4 s, which is a good result for cars of this class. The version with a 180 HP engine accelerates to “hundreds” in 9.2 seconds. However, cars with such a power unit are not delivered to us, as well as diesel versions of SkyActiv-d are not delivered.
The passport dynamics of the KIA Sportage with a 2.0-liter diesel engine is 9.5 s, which is faster than the declared indicators of Mazda. The real acceleration of the Sportage was 9.9 s, and the test CX30 showed a result of 10.44 s. It’s nice that the factory performance of Mazda is almost confirmed.

Mazda CX-30 acceleration to 100
The average fuel consumption according to the passport is 7.3 liters per 100 km (according to the WLTP cycle). By the way, the diesel Sportage should consume the same amount of fuel, which once again confirms the correctness of the comparison. But the average consumption I received during the test was about 10 liters of gasoline. It should be noted that this was not an economical driving style, so if you want, you can easily get a more modest expense. But for a 2.0-liter atmospheric engine, this indicator can be considered quite acceptable.
Off-road features
Our measurements of the ground clearance of both cars showed the same result of 16 centimeters. At the same time, according to the specified technical characteristics, the Sportage should have a clearance of 182 mm, and the CX-30 – 175 mm.

Mazda CX-30 off-road
On the off-road (with a loose sandy surface), this ground clearance for Mazda was quite enough not to” sit down ” bottom. But the all-wheel drive system did not work quite normally. The fact is that with the ESP disabled, storming a deep sandy track, we quickly overheated the clutch. But when I activated ESP, the problem with the clutch overheating disappeared, and we were able to overcome a difficult section. It turns out that the deactivated ESP makes it possible to rotate the clutch completely limitless, as a result of which it quickly overheats. Probably, this can be considered a flaw in the electronics of the crossover or the car’s lack of orientation to off-road traffic (which, of course, is predictable).
Drive
As soon as I got behind the wheel of a Mazda CX-30 and tried to drive actively, I immediately realized that I was not used to cars with atmospheric engines. Here, to go fast, the engine needs to be “turned”. But if the turbo engine, when you add speed, and screams to me: “Yes, Yes, Yes”, with this atmospheric engine, the situation is reversed. I press the accelerator pedal, and in response to hear: “no, no, No!»
When you go to the usual 2-3 thousand rpm, you expect that now the car will “come to life”. But this does not happen, so you have to add. The maximum power here is reached at around 6 thousand rpm, and you need to put up with this. If you hold the box in the kick-down mode, then switching occurs at almost 7 thousand rpm (just a Porsche of some kind). If you try to go “on the torque” (let me remind you, its peak is 213 Nm), then you need to” catch ” it somewhere in the region of 4 thousand revolutions. By the way, the sound insulation in the CX-30 is excellent, and at low speeds the engine is not heard at all. And the entire body is well protected from the penetration of unnecessary noise from the outside.

Mazda CX-30 on the road
This crossover has two preset driving modes: normal and sport. And if everything is clear with the usual, then the settings of the sport mode here are non-standard. In cars with a torque Converter automatic transmission, we are used to the fact that if you activate the sports mode, the reaction to pressing the accelerator pedal changes. And if you want to accelerate sharply, the automatic transmission will drop not one gear, but two or three, or switch at higher speeds.
But here the behavior of the checkpoint is more similar to the settings of the “robot”. For example, if we roll at 2 thousand rpm and turn on Sport, the speed automatically rises to 2.5 thousand. It follows that the gearbox specifically uses a lower gear to reduce the time it takes to reach the maximum torque and power. Summarizing the impression of the engine, I can say with confidence that the dynamics of this car is enough (but not more) for a comfortable and measured ride in the city. It would seem that 150 forces should impress more, but against the background of other settings, they clearly do not feel excessive.
For example, against the background of the suspension, which in the CX-30 is configured just fine. However, at first you can be distrustful of it because of the strange heterogeneous sounds that it gives out. But then, when you drive through holes and on a flat road, you want to give it the maximum rating. For this class, the suspension is quite energy-intensive and relatively quiet. And at the same time, it does not allow such rolls that you expect from a crossover (even with a clearance of 16 cm): when you start driving more actively on the CX-30, you can easily imagine yourself not in a crossover, but in a hatchback. That is, you can afford to enter the turn faster. Although the point here is not only in a well-tuned suspension, but also in a well-adjusted steering.
As for the Japanese crossover (and even for the money), the steering settings here are really great. Even some representatives of VAG (for example, Trac and Karoq) they might be jealous. The steering wheel is sharp enough, informative and, when necessary, heavy. Thanks to this, I clearly control the car, and in this regard, Mazda definitely wins over the Sportage (for this crossover, steering settings are a “sore” point).

Mazda CX-30 fuel consumption per 100 km.
With this suspension and steering wheel, it seems that the Mazda CX-30 wants and can go faster, but there comes a time when you simply do not have enough power in 150 forces. It is felt that the platform underlying the crossover was tuned for a more productive engine. A 2.5-liter engine (or even a turbocharged 2-5-liter engine) would be a great fit here.
On the other hand, you don’t lose the benefits of all these settings and adjustments without having the (desired) power reserve. When driving everyday, even somewhere in traffic, you still enjoy the fact that the car clearly listens to the steering wheel, does not roll too much and smoothly moves over bumps. And the fact that the rear beam is installed, you can only guess at speed bumps (because there is a significant difference in the operation of the front and rear suspension).
Compared to the Japanese crossover, the Sportage has a smudged steering, a louder suspension, and not as good bottom noise insulation. As a result, the body rolls during changes are much more noticeable, and the surrounding sounds in the cabin are more. Although in General, for a quiet ride, the settings are quite acceptable and even not bad, but you will not experience the “driver” sensations behind the wheel of a Sportage. From this point of view, Mazda is more preferable.
By the way, an informative steering wheel is needed not only during active driving, but also for safer movement under all conditions. Clear and clear steering allows you to better control the trajectory of the car, especially if at some point you have to take your eyes off the road for a second.
Comparison with CX-5
There is another car that we consider a direct competitor to the Sportage – the Mazda CX-5. In addition, I am sure that this crossover and the CX30 will also share the target audience, because now they have a comparable price. The current CX-5 is already waiting for an update, so prices for models are reduced, and now buyers can get (for almost the same money) a larger car, which, however, will be equipped a little worse.

Mazda CX-30 automatic transmission selector
In the cabin, the “five” is noticeably more spacious not only in comparison with the CX-30, but also with the Sportage. The quality of the interior trim is not worse than in the CX-30. However, some equipment can be considered outdated. For example, the” picture ” from the rear-view camera in the CX-5 is worse, and the resolution of the Central display does not reach the new multimedia system in the “thirty”. The driver’s seat is more comfortable than in KIA, and there is about the same amount of space in the back as in a Korean car.
The main difference between the two Mazda crossovers is that if you need a “bigger car” for the same money, the CX-5 will suit you. Only in this case, you will not get the newer options that are currently available only in the CX-30 model. Among them, you can note a lot of modern security assistants and the new top-end multimedia system Bose.
But, on the other hand, you will have a larger and more spacious car, equipped with a more powerful 2.5-liter engine with 194 forces. The acceleration rate to 100 km / h is already 9.2 seconds, and this difference in power and volume is really noticeable on the go.
Although there are nuances in setting up the steering and suspension. The information content on the steering wheel of the Mazda CX-5 is better than that of the Sportage, but it also does not reach the level of the CX30. The same can be said about the suspension: in the CX-5, it feels more “thoroughbred” than in the KIA, but more nervous (and small irregularities work out louder) than in the CX-30. So if you are comparing two Mazda crossovers and you are quite satisfied with the size of the CX-30 interior (as well as its dynamics), I would recommend buying a smaller crossover.
Conclusions
To sum up, I will try to give the crossover a rating in each discipline. Design is a subjective matter, but in the case of the CX-30, no one (I think) will argue with me – five (both for appearance and interior).
For the quality of the interior trim and convenience, I put a four. The seats are not very well designed for high growth, and I also lowered the rating for the “crunchy” armrest and not very successful plastic trim of the center console.
The presence of all-wheel drive is an advantage, because many Odnoklassniki do not have such a function at all. However, the unusual settings of the electronics did not allow us to fully “try out” this advantage (for which we could withdraw half a point). But if you generalize, then for off-road (within its class), the car gets five.

Mazda CX-30 ground clearance
For handling, the crossover gets five points, and for comfort and suspension balance-five with a minus (some Odnoklassniki have a more balanced setting, where the average characteristic is more interesting).
Mazda CX-30 undoubtedly has a very good (even ” luxury») equipment. I’ll give you five points on this point.
But for the dynamics, probably four with a minus. However, it is worth noting that it could have been worse. You just need to remember that choosing the CX-30, you choose a car with an atmospheric engine.
The volume of the salon is difficult to assess, because it is the same as that of classmates-no more, no less. Sportage and CX-5 – this is a different segment, and the size of the salons they have, of course, large. And the Mazda CX-30 is trying to play in the luxury class (in terms of configuration and options, for sure), which is ruled by the BMW X1, Mercedes GLK and Audi Q3 Sportback.
I would sum up the comparison with the KIA Sportage as follows: if you don’t have a large family and you don’t travel with a group of four people, I would choose the CX-30. Because you don’t need extra space in the second row and extra liters in the trunk. On the other hand, at current prices, the outgoing generation Mazda CX-5 is also quite an attractive proposition. In fact, for the same amount of money, you can get a bigger car that rides better than the Sportage, but can offer a less interesting package than the CX-30.
